What Is It?
Accelerated reader is a system that urges students to read books so
they can learn better vocabulary and grammar skills.
How Does It Work?
Students take a test in the beginning of each nine weeks
that decide what reading level they are on. It then gives them a
certain number of points to achieve by the end of the nine
weeks. Accelerated reader, (or A .R.) counts towards a student's
language arts grade.
How Can I Get Points Quick?
If you've put off reading until a week before points are due, you
should try reading a few small books.
Junie B. Jones or Goosebumps are fairly easy books to read and, if
you read enough, could get you all of your points quicker than reading a
twenty point book as fast as you can.
