Portsmouth West High School
Media Center

The library at Portsmouth West is truly an "Information Center." The library houses nearly 9,000 books, along with periodicals, DVDs and videotapes. It also has 28 computers for student use. These computers provide access not only to the library's collection but also to Social Issues Resources, OCIS - Ohio's college and career program, word processing, and more.

Students also have Internet access on the computers in the library. They may use the valuable resources provided by the State of Ohio to all schools such as the World Book Encyclopedia, EBSCO's Research Database containing online articles from over 6,000 magazines and newspapers, Biography Reference Bank which provides biographies of famous people from all around the world, Literature Online, Science Online or more. These are available by going to www.infohio.org and entering the username and password the students obtain from Mrs. Leanne Allen, the school's librarian.
